Default Model T Ford rat rod

Here's my latest model creation: The idea is that a young car nut finds his late Grandpa's old hot rod (built in the 1950's) rusting away in a barn, and decides to get it running again. He cleans up the 32 Ford wheels and wide whites, and gets the old Model A four banger running.

The seats are rotted, so he improvises a pair of seats from Walmart lawn chairs!

He can't afford a new paint job, so he just leaves in its rusted glory!

I started with a $5.00 junk model from ebay, and used a bunch of stuff from my old parts boxes to make this rod. The rust is powdered rust from a rusted Brillo pad sprinkled over wet red oxide primer, which was randomly sprayed over flat black. The whitewalls were painted with a Wite-out pen. The seats were scratch built from paper and craft wire. The model is 1/25 scale; about 6 inches long. This was a fun build! It's nice to not have to worry about how good the finish looks!

Too cool Sam! You should really consider building a real rat rod.

My wife wants us to build one together. I'm looking forward to that - if we can ever get to it.
